I have yet to figure out what Saturday posts are supposed to be about. Mostly it looks like Cindy posts about health topics so I will go with that trend and talk about Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.” You don’t sit and sift through asking “why, why why?” You just note the feeling and that you are having it. This is something I use everyday….a lot. I have suffered chronic pain for 15 years and learning this technique is what has gotten me through each day and kept me mostly away from narcotic pain medication. This is the process that has literally saved my life.
If you deal with illness of any variety, I recommend you look into mindfulness as a way to push past and live your life. It doesn’t trivialize you problems, it just helps you go on in spite of them. Check out this book on the subject, it just might be what you need to live your life on your terms.
