Recipe – Chocolate Chip Cookies

© Sicha Pongjivanich (2)Oh yeah, it’s recipe day. How about something yummy for the kids during summer break that they can help make? One that we enjoy making together is our Chocolate Chip Cookies. Even my 5-year old grandson gets into doing these, and they don’t last long. I would show you a picture but I can’t keep them around long enough to photograph. Enjoy them while they last.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated (white) sugar
1 cup shortening (regular or butter flavor)
2 large eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
6 ozs. semi-sweet chocolate chips (or however much you want).
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together sugars and shortening. Add eggs and mix well. Add baking powder, salt and vanilla, stir in to mixture. Add chocolate chips and mix well. Stir in flour one cup at a time until all ingredients are combined well. Bake on un-greased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool on rack. Yields approximately 4 dozen cookies.
